As you might know, IP.Board 3.1 Final has been released today. We will of course update all of our current IPB 3.0.5 skins to 3.1. We think the safest way to update our skins is rebuilding them from scratch.
We couldn't give you an exact date of completion since we have more than 30 skins to upgrade, however we will do our best to complete everything within the next few weeks. New skins are also on the map.
If you wish to upgrade to 3.1 and are using one of our skins, we would advise you to wait before upgrading since your skin(s) will not be fully compatible with it. If you can't wait, though, you can but you would have to use the default skin until your skin is updated.
Also, please note that the 3.1 upgrade will be free as promised.
UPDATE: We might also wait for 3.1.1 as some bugs may affect the skinning engine. As usual we will keep you informed.
Thank you.

Out of interest, has anyone tried the skin updater service on any Skinbox skins included in IP3.1?

OK, don't try it lol. It's a pain, so I decided to use the default IP.Board skin and let Oliver the great get the job done lol.
Edit: Will our code edits in the skin be erased when upgrade with the updated themes?

Hm maybe it's best to wait for 3.1.1
I expected to see same situation like year ago with 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 .

You would have to redo all of your custom codes for any skin update really. There are no "soft" ways to upgrade a skin. You have to reinstall it.

You guys, this is what I would do. Upload the updated skin on a different name and compare with your modified code. Then make changes as you need it.

Thanks for the update, but many paid for a service, a service many have renewed, to get updates for skins, as ipBoard updates.
Having no ETA isn't particularly great. What if someone paid for a renewal, but you take more than 3 months etc?
Also we pay for updates to current versions, but you now announce you may skip this version. Thats not what was paid for.
Also, surely you knew the new version might have caused issues? Why no warning? Why no liason with Ip.board creators
during the beta process to test a few skins, see if there would be a problem? I imagine it would have taken nothing more
than few emails.
As a I.T techie, I can see your points. I know it might take time to update. I know it might be complex.
As a customer, I'm not hugely impressed that delays are only made clear way after the time of purchase.
As a business owner, I know another companies problems don't automatically qualify for sympathy
from me if it's affecting my bottom line.
So, here's to hoping you get the updates out, in a timely manner, eh?

I never saw any serious Internet company giving out specific ETAs. In this business everything can happen.
What you have to understand is that we rely on IP.Board / vBulletin. We do not decide when our skins need updates, they do (when they release a new version of their softwares). Also, we are going to take this opportunity to rebuild the skins from scratch so they are completely bug-free. We don't want 3.0.5 files/bugs left in the new 3.1.x skins. Plus, the update will be free. I mean we can not do miracles, are you really expecting us to upgrade more than 30 skins in two days? 3.1 was released June first, and the new final version was only downloadable June first.

Really? IP.Board put an ETA out for their final release.
Anwyay, your points are fair enough, but my point about being proactive and working with them still stands.
Also, no, I dont expect updates in two days, but skipping versions and not putting down ETA's is a bit sour.
As I said here's to hoping they *do* get done in a timely manner.
For what its worth, I dig the concept and your designs. Haven't had a problem yet.

Yes, because surely the final version was ready. And we can not do anything until the final versions are released - we do not work on betas. I'm not sure what your definition of proactive is, but personally, making an announcement June first and state that we will rebuild all the skins from scratch for free is enough proactive to me.
I'm not sure what you would want us to do more.
