We are glad to announce the release of Magnetic 2.2.0 as part of our current batch update. The new version of the skin is now compatible with our framework and with the latest IP.Services official applications (Blog, Downloads, Gallery, Chat, Nexus, Content, Tracker and Shootbox). The skin has also been revamped both design and code-wise. It now uses much more modern code.

Faster
This new version of Magnetic really is faster. Indeed the skin used to request more than 75 images on board index, and now requests only 55. We have added CSS 3 that replaces some images, and enhanced images size. The skin also does not use 5 background images depending on users' resolution anymore. It now uses a completely liquid layout.

Current customers can download and reinstall the skin through their download box.

This is our latest skin to be updated as part of our 2011 batch update. We hope that you will enjoy this update and wish to apologize for the time taken.

I think moving the sidebar to the top works a lot better with this skin and should have been done from the beginning. It's way too cramped having two sidebars. Great work

Oh boy, I'm excited... but...

just playing with the new version on your test site and I see a huge mistake - one that may cause me not to upgrade...

you moved the "view new content" on to the sidebar that everyone hides! YIKES! I've trained my readers to love that link which was at the top of every page regardless of whether the sidebar was hidden - and I click on that link 20+ times a day when reading thru my forums... now I have to open the sidebar to click it?

major step backwards guys!

I hate to say this - but it feels like there are still some bugs - I know you put a lot of work into it tho - there are indeed many good improvements!

Other notes:

• it appears that the "View New Content" and "Today's Active Content" are identical - in fact, view new content has a header of "Active content in the last 24 hours" when viewing the page (from your demo site):

• I agree that it is nice to have moved the second sidebar to the top - but in the old version, this sidebar content was only visible on the home page - now it is visible on EVERY page with no option to hide (contract) it... takes up too much space. I think I prefer the old way - it should only be on the home page of the forum.
  
  
  
• there's a bug in the gallery section - photos overlap text (UPDATE maybe these bugs are IPBs? - I notice that this changes depending on the width of your page window - the image is sometimes only overlapping the text depending on how wide the user has his page (image from Safari))

Pretty sure you can edit the width of the videos in posts. This also depends on your screen resolution.

It is there - we do not need to "bring it back" - Plus you can still customize the skin to fit your needs. I clearly understand that you don't like the way it is now, but that doesn't mean it's "not right".

  If I recall, this is an IPB bug. But not sure - let me look into this.

  Please post bugs your find in our bug tracker. This will be better for us to track the bugs.

This was the opinion of one person. You can view the skin live here and see by yourself if it fits your needs.

The tabbed hooks can be hidden on all pages but the homepage by adding this:
hooks_everywhere=off
in public/style_images/magnetic/_config/features.ini, before [ie]


Please try to avoid such big posts here, it would be better to give a general impression here and to post bugs in the bug tracker and requests for customization in the support forums. It makes the whole thread a lot more readable for other users.

Has the gallery problem been solved? This problem was the in the original version. This is why I have been waiting for weeks for this issue to be sorted out after I notified Skinbox about this. It even does it like this in the demo on this site. Sod it I give up!

I re-downloaded the skin and tried installing on my site but I got the following warning message:

Warning: The skin set you are attempting to import was created for IP.Board 3.1.4. You are currently running IP.Board 3.2.1.

So I didn't install it because I didn't want to ruin my upcoming forum. However, I bought this skin and I have never use it before and I do want to install for my IPB version. Any tips on this? Thanks!

hey mate, check the pinned news topic about the skins, sknbox are currently going through the process of upgrading all of their skins to be compatable with the latest version of IPB 3.2, they had to completely rebuild them when IPB was updated, skinbox aim to have all of the skins released and upto date by the end of august.
