Hi,

I am interested in your wonderful looking theme, Caja. I like the way it looks and works in Chrome and Firefox, but when I look at it in IE8 or IE9 it seems as if the "active elements" in the theme do not render properly.

To show you what I mean, I am attaching two images to this reply. (Caja-Chrome.JPG and Caja-IE.JPG)

Do you notice how none of the button outlines appear? And the "embossed" look around the search bar and the button in the main navigation are missing? Also in the Sign Up and Register blue box, the buttons are also not active when the mouse hovers over them...and their outlines are missing.

So, my questions to you are....Can this theme be fixed so it works in IE as it works in Chrome? Is the Caja version you show in your demo the latest Caja version? Or is there a workaround that can be done so I can fix this.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Maria

Hello,

Caja in our Live demo is supposed to be the last version.

Caja works just like in Chrome & Firefox in IE 9. If there are visual glitches, do not hesitate to let us know about them, we'll fix them shortly.

However, IE8 is not that simple to work with. Problem is that it doesn't support most of the CSS3 directives. We have two choices: either make it more heavy by creating images for every single gradient, rounded corner and embossment effect or make it more heavy by using microsoft "filters". IE8 is not really a fast browser originally. So we think it wouldn't be a good idea.

We tried to make it look "not too bad", though. I agree with you it could be better but that is not our main focus at the moment since we are upgrading our skins (only one left!) to take advantage of our newest codebase (which is already in Caja).

Let us know your thoughts on this matter.

Have a nice day,

Hi,

I installed IE9 on one of my computers, and Caja looks like it has the same rendering errors I showed you in my last reply in this thread...same problems as showed up in IE8.

So, from what I can tell...Caja doesn't render in IE9 as it does in Chrome of Firefox. See my IE8 image above...there is no improvement in IE9.

Is there a way that you can make these fixes so it renders correctly in IE9? If so, how long will that take?

Thanks,
Maria

That's because the frame used in our live demo makes IE go in "quirks mode". So try going to the live demo directly: http://live.skinbox.net/
Click on Skin & Language (at the very bottom), and select Caja. Is it better? (under IE9)
