We are glad to announce the release of Surface 2.2.0 as part of our current batch update. The new version of the skin is now compatible with our framework and with the latest IP.Services official applications (Blog, Downloads, Gallery, Chat, Nexus, Content, Tracker and Shootbox). The skin has also been revamped both design and code-wise. It now uses much more modern code.

Style Picker
Surface now comes with our Style Picker feature and ships with 4 colors built-in: Blue, Green, Red and Black. You can easily disable styles and create new ones.



Tabbed Hooks
Surface now also ships with our Tabbed Hooks feature, also available in Viril and Caja.



Retrospective
So we first released Surface March 6, 2010, and at the time it was the first premium IP.Board skin to have the category blocks enabled.


Then, as part of our first big batch update later on in 2010, it has been completely redesigned and our Resize feature was added to the skin.


And here we are, April 2011, releasing version 2.2.0 of the skin.


We hope you will enjoy this update. As usual, current customer can download (and reinstall) the new skin via their download box.

You're right. I just wanted some new features I'll wait till 3.2 anyway, when you have to redo stuff anyway. It's just madness (in a good way for me, and for you - i don't know, more work? ) that you do so heavy updates on these skins, when 3.2 will be around in a month or two. BTW: Black style, OH YES!

Regarding the new tabbed hooks feature, this seems to have replaced the guest welcome message box, is there any way to add in custom tabs on the new thing so I can default it to a guest message or other custom code? Also is there a way to specify which tab is the active one on the page load or does it just default to the fist one.

The tabbed hooks are the hooks which are in the sidebar in the default skin. It takes the first one as active so that means you can re-order the hooks in your acp so that the one you prefer is shown first. As for adding stuff in it, that's as simple as adding a sidebar hook in your acp. Just get a hook that enables you to put an arbitrary content in sidebar and it will be turned into a nice tab.

Is there any way to only show a hook on a specific skin then? For example I've got Surface and Magnetic. If I was to have this hook showing the guest message in Surface is there some way to keep it from being in the sidebar for magnetic or the default IPB skin?

We could somewhat hack into it but well. That's not built-in.

Is the surface demo on the website different from what is being downloaded? I ask because I just downloaded it and when I compare the two there are some differences

This shows up only when I'm on the blog page and the tab at the top is Recent Blog Entries. It displays fine on other pages.

Also something is wrong with the CSS of the last item in any forum category. One table cell has rounded corners for some reason.

Can you tell me how to cut off fully resize function in Surface 2010?
