New IPB Skin: Caja



We are glad to release our new IP.Board skin, Caja for IP.Board 3.1.4. Caja is compatible with the latest version of all official IP.Services addons (Gallery, Blog, Downloads, Chat, Nexus, Content) and Tracker.

Movable Blocks


Your users can now move every blocks on the board index. Both the forums and the blocks in the sidebar are movable.

Custom Background Changer




Caja comes with 5 default backgrounds that users can choose from. The very new feature with this release is that your users are now able to put their own uploaded background! That means that if they don't like the default ones, they can just upload their own, put the URL and use it on Caja!

Collapsible Sidebar


Your users can easily show and hide the skin's sidebar.

Tabbed Hooks


Caja comes with a nice ajaxy tabbed hooks feature that lets you navigate through all hooks easily.

New Sign In Window


The skin has a brand new log in window. Simpler, cleaner, clearer.

New Topic View


Caja comes with a brand new designed topic view. Again, simpler and cleaner.

New Profiles


The skin also comes with a new profile view.

Avatars In Forum View


Forget boring and repeating forum icons. The topic list view of Caja replaces the default forum icons with the topic starter's avatar. Also, it includes a nice tooltip showing basic information about the topic: the author's name and the date the topic was posted.

Elegant & Viril Updated

Elegant and Viril are now updated. Elegant is now version 2.2.2 and Viril 1.0.4. Both skins are now fully compatible with the latest versions of all IP.Services applications. Here is the fixed bugs list.

I noticed in the demo of caja that the sidebar covers the recent images and some other stuff in the gallery. In the downloads section everything is in one slim column and doesn't fit right.

I noticed on Chrome, that if you change the background of Caja, the bottom section of the page doesn't change, and stays the default background.

I just look at Elegant more closely the one I just downloaded (which says it was updated today) in the template merge area that this version is 3.1.3 not 3.1.4. Also I file a report with the gallery which I thought would have gotten fix but still having the same issues as before.

I don't really like this background changing trend... There's something to be said about brand recognition and letting people make your site look like whatever they want really dilutes that.

Yes I know you can turn it off.

I think letting users customize your website makes it very user friendly. Makes them believe it's their own website and definitely adds a personal touch. But as you said, you can easily turn off that feature.

I must say Caja is a very sweet skin. It will be alot better (if that's even possible) when all the bugs get worked out. Looking forward to seeing an update to this soon.
