We are seeking suggestions for our next big batch update. What would you want us to put on the existing skins? What are your dream features? What should we improve in the skin(s) you have purchased?

The batch update will be released in a few weeks.

Thank you!

1. I would like to see avatars in Elegant skin.
2. Drop down menu sometime works and sometime it doesn't work. I would like to see that fixed.
3. Some skin optimization so it loads faster, if possible.
4. Basically it support images for each category. Outstanding feature. But it also makes image little light for some reason.
5. Support for new tracker if possible.

That's all for me. :)

General suggestions to be considered put on existing skins:

1. Avatars.
2. Custom color picker (!!!)
3. Highlighted forum text for new post (a new color if forum is unread)
4. Search which hide menu when active (like Joie got)
5. On hover description info.
6. On hover "topic / replies" and "replies / views" info.

hello,

thx

Can you post a bug report? I cannot see what issue you are referring to.

Customization- my members are loving the hooks background changer in Viril, but can this be taken a step further with a member's choice of full website backgrounds, maybe a skin colour changer and a per-forum colour changer?

Optimization- speed is of the essence, the faster these skins load the better.

Navigation- The easier this is for members the better.

Sub-Forum new topic markers and a clearer way of seeing which topics they haven't read maybe a different colour also in PMs.

I would also like to see a Facebook wall type page, one of your skins almost does this already it just needs excerpts of posts added with read more.

An easier way of upgrading these skins when you release new updates for porting over our edits.

This is pretty much in reference to Viril and any skins you update with popup windows.

You can read the original posts starting HERE.

The ability to turn on/off popups (Stat Window and Skin/Language in Viril)

For features.ini?

stats_in_popup: off
skin_and_language_in_popup: off

This should put them back to the original way, Stats at bottom of forums and Skin chooser in pulldown box.

I would love to see at least Internet Explorer 9 get fully supported in all skins, but Internet Explorer 8+ would be even better. Considering both are capable of rendering HTML, CSS, and JavaScript properly, I do not know why they are not.

Viril, for example, looks awesome in Firefox and Chrome, but it looks bad, in comparison, in Internet Explorer. The preview from the forum thread link does not work, the header picker does not work, the top menu looks bad, etc. In short, most of the cool features do not work or do not look right.

So, put me down for requesting that the most popular browser, love it or hate it, gets supported better. :)

I totally agree. The new skins are just too modern (which is good and bad at the same time...). We need some more skins like Elegant which work pretty well on older versions of IE. Simple skins.

IE 9 will probably be fully supported in a near future - we are currently having a look at it so that we can see its particularities. For IE 8, it will never be as well-supported as Firefox, Safari and Chrome. So it will improve, but some features may not be available in it.

So we understood your requests about IE, we will improve on this point for sure.

In the meantime, is there anything we can do to make it so that, for instance, in Source, the body text of posts comes up as something besides black (on a black background, in my and the default cases) in IE?

It will be possible in IE9 only, unfortunately.

We may pick another color for IE < 9 but it will remain a solid color. Sorry :)

The way I have done this is by putting a script in board index which asks the reader to upgrade their browser if they are running an out-dated one, people really should use the most up to date browser anyway for security reasons, it's not only these skins which won't be compatible with older browsers and a lot of people don't even know they can update their browsers.

Here is the script if anyone would like to use it;

<script type="text/javascript">
var  = {}
.ol = window.onload;
window.onload=function(){
 if (.ol) .ol();
 var e = document.createElement("script");
 e.setAttribute("type", "text/javascript");
 e.setAttribute("src", "http://browser-update.org/update.js");
 document.body.appendChild(e);
}

</script>

What this does is send them to this page http://browser-update.org/update.html from which they can update their browsers.

Good idea. We will provide such feature for users who want to activate it. It certainly won't be activated by default, though.
