Viril has been updated and is now version 1.0.1. Current Viril customers can download the new version in their download box. New customers can purchase it here. A lot of bugs have been fixed and new features have been implemented in this new version.

Fixed bugs

What's new?

We have added default avatars in topic view, 4 new nice backgrounds, implemented an easy way to change board width, avatars size and background picker thumbnails size with our new framework, and have added an option to disable the animations for a faster browsing. Tutorials on how to edit all that will be available later this week. Some icons/stylings have also been remade.

You can view the skin live here. Note that you can also see the skin without animation by choosing "Viril - No animation" in the skin chooser (bottom left of your screen).

Please report any bug in our bug tracker.

Hope you enjoy this update!

The none-animated version fixed the "lagg" I was referring to @ IPS forums ^^.

Good :) please note that you can deactivate all animations or only those of the tabbed hooks (which are probably responsible for the lag).

Cool. Because I saw you took off the animation on the toggle on/off forums button as well, and this was never the issue (I think people want to keep this animation ON) but it was as you say, the animation in the tabbed hooks only :) (which I think people will turn OFF). Great that we at least get this option, very nice :)

Originally, the animations=off option was for IE (yes, you can activate/deactivate features for IE specifically); animation are too costly on IE. So that is why we have both options: hooks animation or all animations.

Still doesn't work in IE 8. None of the js works. Can't collapse the recent posts at the top and none of the animation works.

A js error is the cause.

Use compatibility mode of ie for now (it should work on ie 7 and ie 9). This will probably end up being the only fix for this (we can enforce compatibility mode programmatically so it would be transparent for your users).

If you are having js problems try this;

In globalTemplate, find:

{parse expression="Skinbox::javascript('build', 'dynamic', 'viril')"}

Replace with:

<script type="text/javascript" src="{style_images_url}/_cache/skinbox.js"></script>

Good work guys all I had to do was change the board width and edit that js.

Could we also have an easy way to change the background designs to ones we want?

I need assistance with a few other things though can you put me in customers?

A lot of the problems were fixed, thanks. I just installed 1.0.1 and then I noticed this error right away:

Posted Image

The "Watch Content" block is taking up a tremendous amount of space where the forum boards are supposed to be. Also to the right, member avatars can be seen which I am sure is not supposed to be there. I have a feeling that this may be due to a conflicting hook because the skin works perfectly fine on skinbox.

PS: This was tested in the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7.

Edit: Cleared my cache and it didn't help. I just tested it on my iMac also with Firefox and that error isn't happening. Strange.

Edit 2: Background picker is not working (Firefox on windows 7 and Mac OSX)

Edit 3: The same error now happened on the Mac. I think I've identified the cause. After failing to choose a background the first error I noted happens but it's not as bad. I don't know if it's because Firefox works a bit different on Macs:

Posted Image

Edit 4: The bottom where "Post Moderation" and such are located looks a bit skewed. The black bars and options just aren't placed very "neatly". "With Selected" overlaps onto the second "bar" and so does "post moderation" a tiny bit. (Firefox Mac)

It also seems like the skin doesn't take too kindly to one of the reputation mods I have installed that shows how much reputation you have in the mini profile. It has an odd gray beleveled(?) box around the word "Reputation".

Edit 5: There are some more errors I noticed. When in the gallery it is not possible to switch through the hooked tabs in the "sidebar/topbar?". Also there doesn't seem to be a quick editor for posts? When I click edit, it takes my off the the full editor right away instead of first showing the mini-editor.

I apologize if it seems like I'm nit picking.

As for the little hack that is suggested above for js, it is no longer necessary. It has been patched from the internals. Install the new version.

Don't appologize - it's normal to report things that aren't normal.

I can't reproduce this though :/ Anyone else getting these bugs?

IT doesn't happen there. As I noted, on the two instances that I got the errors it happened after I failed to switch the back ground. When I clicked the background changer bucket and clicked on a different background, it didn't change. After that I refreshed and that's when the "watched content" problem arose. I don't think we'll be able to simulate it on the link you posted because the background changer works.

No, I can't replicate it on there either.

As I said I fixed the js errors (Viril 1.0.1) with that hack you gave me previously, but we do have quite a few other problems.

The watched content problem
http://www.xboxlivea...dex.php?/blogs/ blog index menu slipped.
Using Internet Explorer 8 with and without compatibility is very buggy, so buggy it crashes the browser, js doesn't work and the box behind the hooks is now blue after updating the skin.
Login doesn't always remember you.
Clicking on recent post box from anywhere other than board index asks to copy and paste URL.

These are what our community have found so far and yes I upgraded the skin to 1.0.1 and these are still there.

Sorry to be a downer we really love the skin apart from these bugs and please put me in the customers group so I can post in the correct forum :)

Doesn't work with IE 9 or IE 8 even using compatibility mode so I doubt it will work with IE 7.

You make some fine skins. Unfortunately the last 2 you released didn't work in IE. Joie and now this one. It's sad because 90% of my users use IE. I run Microsoft centric sites so asking all my visitors to switch browsers would be suicide for my sites. As much as I like the skins, I have bought most of them, I can no longer use them.

Yes AWS 90% of my users use IE too and being a Microsoft fan site also we cannot recommend them to change browser, yet alone use compatibility mode when they can't even read the site anyway properly.

It's a shame because the skin is awesome and you guys have done a brilliant job.

Thanks Olivier and would it be possible next time you do an update that we can have a text file of the changes? as I really don't want to install it again and edit everything again.
