We've been working on the tooltips today. I am sure you will love what we did: it fixes all of the issues you reported. They work well in all browsers, and are deactivated in IE.

As for IE, this skin is clearly designed for modern browsers. So IE 8 won't do well with it, and even if we try to avoid to making it unusable, it is full of issues at the moment, which are not likely to be fixed. I don't think this is a problem as the particular interface of Joie is clearly not meant for beginners, who are the only who use IE now (either beginners or people who won't accept change and progress, again they won't like Joie). Please also note we deactivated some javascript features for IE, to prevent it from going crazy.

That's just my opinion, but well. :)

One more thing, you can re-add the old post icons quite easily. We can assist you to do this.

This is one hell of an attitude for a developer to have. IE 8 being old? The skin is made for modern browsers? This skin does not work with IE 9 at all. IE 9 is as modern as it gets.

What I believe you mean to say is this skin will work with any browser not made by Microsoft since you don't know how to make it compatible. Whether you know it or not 90% of people that visit forums are not advanced users and most of them still use IE. That means that you will lose customers. I have been a loyal customer and spent my money for skins that work in all browsers, IE included. If this is attitude you will have going forward then you lost a customer. I have bought skins from other skin sites and guess what they work in all browsers and if I do find a bug they will work to fix and not just tell customers that the skin is for advanced visitors.

My God, you really should work on your customer support and if you do not intend to make a skin work in all browsers at least let the customers know upfront. I would have never spent the money of Joie had I known this was the attitude you would take with it. As much as I like the skin it is useless on my sites because I happen to cater to non-techy types.

As much as I dislike IE (actually, I've almost never used it, maybe back in 2000...!) there is still people that use IE, I know because I got a guy 40+ here and he is used to IE and so uses it. I think most people that just use internet to surf, check forums dont even know about mozilla/firefox, chrome, opera and so on. We can thank microsoft for this, for forcing IE on its users. When it comes to people with a clue, they will use different browsers, sadly, this is only what the new generation will use, and you will lose those "old boys" (dont get offended now) that is 30+ and literally was raised with IE from the very start.

I do know this suck big time for you skinners, and I really feel your pain about this (trust me when I say it). As much as I also dislike IE, I have to accept the fact that IE has a big user market still, and that it is hard to convert these people, to use more "modern (if I can say this)" browsers. Don't get me wrong, this skin is perfect, just not suited for IE users (which is sad) and should only be used as a optional skin and not a default skin (!), unless this is about to change in future versions.

I think you are wrong here. It simply depends on your users.

Joie uses a lot of Javascript. It is very modern. IE cannot support all this stuff, it would go crazy for sure. So even if we can visually improve the skin, what makes it unique will never be fully compatible with IE. So if you have IE users, they won't be able to appreciate this skin: in the end, is it worth supporting these users?

We usually support IE pretty well (above IE 7, or including IE 7 depending on the amount of issues it involves). But on this kind of skin, which is clearly meant for modern technical users due to its particular display (unconventional board index, etc.), I don't see the point really.

But I agree with you that we have to continue supporting IE in most cases (it's still 30% of the overall Internet users as far as I know). But there are some when it makes no sense because it stops innovation.

What I would advise, if you really want to use Joie but you have a lot of IE users, is buying both Elegant and Joie and configuring IPB to show Elegant to IE users with some warning like "You should choose another browser". But keep in mind that Joie is still usable with IE: it is not very aesthetic, but it shows the content at least.

Well, actually, to be honest, there is nothing wrong with Joie in IE8 ... it's working pretty much as intended, except from some small design concerns really:

Thinking of functionality, Joie works, it's just IE8 messing up the design. I don't know if this could be fixed by adding some css code specifically for IE8 users or not (detect IE8 users?).

Seems like IE9 will be way better btw, I can just hope: http://en.wikipedia....rnet_Explorer_9

Maybe this will just be a bad dream, and fixed when IE9 is out.

Update: Downloading IE9 beta now, just so we "get a clue" how it could look in IE9 final.
Update 2: Same results in IE9 beta I'm afraid.

Awesome (I've now bought it!). Could you make this as a public guide instead of telling me exclusively, so that others might also benefit from it. Thanks in advance.
