#15203 New Skinbox in development

Posted by Ehren on 03 October 2011 - 03:45 AM

Hi everyone,

Just a quick announcement to let you know Skinbox is obviously going through an upgrade at the moment. It will take a couple of days before everything is running smoothly, but I'll keep you updated with the progress whenever updates are made.

Customers will currently be unable to access their downloads. We are converting the old system to Nexus, and we aim to migrate all customers over as soon as possible - at which point you will be able to download the products you have purchased.

We have also transferred skinbox to a new server, so don't be alarmed if there are any broken pages. They should be fixed in due time. :)

Edit: I have had numerous people contact me asking why it says they have no paid downloads in their client area. This is normal as we have not yet transferred the customer database. Your account will be upgraded once we update the database, and you will be given access to the files which you purchased.

#15332 New Skinbox in development

Posted by Ehren on 09 October 2011 - 01:10 AM

Ok ... Sebastien P. when i will get my purchased and paid skins? From first day when i paid - skins works not - terabyte help me and wrote to you that skins have missed codes ... it was 3.1.4 time .... now is 3.2.2 - 3.2.3 time and still i have not my skins? I do not care about your menagement , server, moving site ..nexus ...that is not my problem ... it is your problem .. we wait for one announcement one month ... customers wait 45 days for one answer ..and now you have face to write something for get more time ... my patience is finished ... want my money back ... you are shame for net bussines ... fix my skins quick ...and please blam not me more ...

regards

bosss

Ehren do not say that you will move me from your site ...and do not speak shit about honesty ...

With all due respect, skinbox would be dead if I did not take over management. All customers would have been left in the dark with no 3.2 skin updates. As mentioned before, I felt a site overhaul was definitely needed to make the UI more friendly and it has only postponed the skin upgrades by less than 7 days. The updates are being done for free by myself which is a huge task considering the complexity in every skin.

With a little patience, you'll see skins being released quite often over the coming weeks. ;)

Thank you.

#14889 New Management

Posted by Ehren on 18 September 2011 - 12:08 AM

Alright - on topic thanks guys. As I have mentioned before, the skins will be upgraded so they match the 3.1.x versions, so they will look like Olivier's skins still. It's clear some of you may not be entirely happy with the change, however keep in mind there was a high chance that the skins were never going to be upgraded at all if Olivier and Sebastian could not find a replacement.

Sebastian and I will be working very hard over the next couple of weeks to bring you upgraded skins as soon as we can. The skins are being upgraded by myself and I'm receiving no commission from any past sales which means I'm required to support/upgrade all premade skins for free for all existing customers. It's a monumental task and I'd appreciate any negative feedback being postponed until the skins are actually released. If you're not happy with the 3.2 skins once they're finished, then you're more than welcome to go ahead and post your feedback at that time. ;)

Thank you.

Posted by Ehren on 17 September 2011 - 01:44 AM

Hi everyone,

To reiterate when Sebastian said, Skinbox will continue to operate as an individual site, separate from IPBForumSkins. The current 3.1.x premade skins will be upgraded so they are compatible with 3.2.x. They will not undergo any design modifications/changes, and my aim is to make them look as similar as possible to the 3.1.x skins. Brave is pretty much ready for release, and announcements will be posted about what skins are coming next.

I can imagine that we won't be able to please everyone - Olivier and I had our own styles and dedicated customers - but my goal at the moment is to bring skins back to Skinbox in a timely manner to try and keep most of you satisfied. Any feedback is welcomed and will be taken on board. :)

#14765 IP.Board 3.2 Skin Releases

Posted by Swimmer on 12 September 2011 - 02:11 PM

There will be an announcement very soon about what has been going on at Skinbox recently.

Deep changes to be expected.

No offense, what does very soon even mean to skinbox? It's been 13 days and that announcement that was supposed to come "Very soon" hasn't been posted. Don't mean to be an annoyance but we've all been given like 5 dates as to when the skins, or a skin will be released and on each of those days absolutely nothing is posted by staff and its acted like nobody even said anything, only to be notified a week later that the update is coming "shortly". it's a repeated cycle, can you please tell us what's going on and an actual answer as to when the skins should be updated? if you have absolutely no clue i'd rather hear you say that then stall for more time with false release dates, because i am and i'm sure alot of others are annoyed to come and refresh this site every day for a month straight only to see the rare post from staff and no progress

An updated version of Elegant 3.2.x is now available. The new version has been recoded from scratch after we received some poor feedback from Oliviers original upgrade.

#14369 IP.Board 3.2 Skin Releases

Posted by Olivier Turbis on 15 August 2011 - 05:05 PM

We will post in this very topic each time one of our products has been updated to IPB 3.2 and is available for download.

Please note that starting now, our newly IPB 3.2 compatible skins will all be $20.

Current customers can download the new version of the skins they've purchased through their download box.

Elegant for IP.Board 3.2 has been released and can be purchased from here.

As being the first skin in our 3.2 release series, Elegant may contain a handful of bugs - especially with our beloved IE. There will be an update to address those quickly. You can report bugs into our bug tracker.

The skin is now version 3.0.0 and features a color picker (just like Delight). You can see Elegant for 3.2 live here.

#14839 New Management

Posted by Sebastien Penet on 16 September 2011 - 04:09 AM

Hello,

After much deliberation, I'm quite sad to announce that Olivier will be leaving Skinbox as of now. It has been a well-thought decision. Although he loves design, he has always disliked coding, and does not feel he is able to fulfil his duties here anymore. Rest assured, he won't leave you alone and Skinbox will continue to function as a skin provider for IPB.

I will remain at Skinbox like I have always been. My role won't change - I will still be in charge of interactive development and more technical things - plus overall management. And Ehren will join forces to replace Olivier. You all know he is the founder of IPBForumSkins - but his arrival at Skinbox won't change anything as for his other business. He will work with me to bring Skinbox to its former level of quality which has been reaching terribly low levels in the past few weeks.

We will focus on getting the skins updated so they are compatible with IP.Board 3.2.x. Brave will be released quickly after the publication of this announcement.

I hope this announcement answers any questions that may have arisen over the past few weeks. We will be striving for a smooth transition, and aim to finally have the skins upgraded in a timely manner.

Thank you.

#14660 IP.Board 3.2 Skin Releases

Posted by Sebastien Penet on 02 September 2011 - 09:50 PM

Here's my take on the situation. Seb has been posting in the IPB forum using Olivers login. Oliver hasn't been around for a while. My bet is Oliver either is or has already quit as the designer. Seb is left trying to find another designer that matches Olivers talent. One has to wonder if Oliver did the elegant theme for 3.2. It by no means meets his standards.

I have been buying Skinbox skins almost from the beginning. I have noticed that since Seb came on board and added all his js and functions the quality has gone down. The styles are still second to none, but, functionality is terribly buggy.

Maybe Oliver didn't know how or is just too nice a guy to re-take control of his own business. Leaving altogether is more than likely what he chose.

Take this with a grain of salt as I could be way wrong in my assessment. It's just the way things look to me.

Before it goes too far, I have never used Olivier's login on Skinbox. I have used Olivier's account at IPS forums and have always signed as Sébastien. I have been at Skinbox since its birth. I even joined Olivier before the release of Skinbox, and have even worked on IPBCustomize. Functionality, as you suggest, isn't buggy. Surely, quality has gone down overall. And that's what needs to be addressed. Now I think that the debate about what caused our business issues is not as important as what will be done so that we can move on and satisfy as much people as we can.

And Elegant has been designed and coded by Olivier only. Only things I added are js and php, as with every single skin since Skinbox exists.

#14262 About IPB 3.2

Posted by Ehren on 11 August 2011 - 02:53 AM

ehren is a douche, he think's he's better than everyone else and charges way more for his skins than everyone else, oh and he bans people from his site for no reason.

the rest of you can go and support the douchbag that is ehren who's head is so far up his own butt, so he is welcome to customers such as your self, you'll be like 2 peas in a pod.

Thanks buddy, appreciate the feedback, always nice to hear! If you're banned, there's a reason for it - you have obviously done something against my T&C's so a ban was required. Fairly sure I know who you are and am happy to swap details with Olivier to confirm if needed. No need to hate.

Anyway, on a better note, best of luck to Olivier with the updates. There's a lot of work needed since skins need to be done from scratch, so they are time consuming. I'm sure the skins will look nice when they're done.

#14225 About IPB 3.2

I have been watching this thread for a while now, and can i just say, as a paying customer for several skins. Thank you for taking the time to upgrade your skins properly. Please continue to make great skins. The fact that you don't just duct tape together your skins for 3.2 support is why i shop here

#14180 About IPB 3.2

Posted by Sebastien Penet on 06 August 2011 - 02:24 PM

Hello everyone,

As stated earlier, our skins will be updated by the end of the month, and Elegant will be released next week.

I would like to say that it is very difficult to compare time-frames between different service providers. Believe it or not, Ehren's framework is nothing comparable to what we're doing. I'm not saying he's doing it wrong, not at all - I'm saying we're not talking about the same thing. It may be hard to understand at this point, but you'll understand that in a few weeks, after our 3.2 releases. We're currently trying to do things right: that means a lot of things need to be changed. Customization must be made simpler, because we have a lot of current users of our skins, and they all want something different. And when an update pops up, they have to re-do it all. It is not satisfying. Plus, we want to achieve a total compatibility with all browsers (nothing prior to IE8, but we want real support for IE) because we know it is not always perfect. This is not acceptable. And that is why we are taking a lot of time.

We need to upgrade our whole product line now. I'm not talking about a simple update, I'm talking about taking our product to the next level, in terms of quality and ease of use.

So the current roadmap is the following:
- Elegant next week
- Others by the end of the month - we have an internal release order but it will change as time goes by. I will give it to you anyway, so that you have a rough idea. But don't expect it to be strictly-followed.
  • Elegant
  • Brave
  • Warrior
  • Magnetic
  • Cielo
  • Mystic
  • Surface
  • Blood
  • Velvet
  • Viril
  • Delight
  • Dedark
  • Joie
  • Caja
  • Less
  • Underground
  • Source
Thanks,
Sébastien Penet.

#14006 About IPB 3.2

Posted by Sebastien Penet on 28 July 2011 - 06:35 PM

Platform theme has been finished, we're now working on the actual skins.

Elegant is the first one to be taken care of. It might take some more time for the first time to be released as it will help notice bugs in the platform theme. Others will come more quickly.
